Celebrating its 30th Anniversary, the Molecular Microbial Ecology Group (MMEG) is excited to welcome attendees to this year’s meeting, hosted by the University of Southampton. Set over two days, from the 16th to the 17th of December 2024, the event takes place at the National Oceanography Centre located within the port of Southampton. MMEG 2024 offers a welcoming and supportive setting for students and postdoctoral researchers to showcase their work. It’s an excellent chance not only to build professional networks but also to gain valuable insights and feedback through discussions with fellow microbial ecology researchers—an essential component for career progression.
Topics range from fundamental to applied research in microbial ecology, including terrestrial and marine ecosystems, metabolic pathways, biogeochemical cycling, biodegradation, biotechnology, and human microbiome, among others. Except for a single plenary lecture and panel discussion, all the talks will be given by early career scientists. A conference dinner will be held on the Monday evening to provide further opportunity for networking and discussion.
