Today marks a major milestone for global microbiome collaboration: the World Microbiome Partnership (WMP) will officially launch during the inaugural One Health World Microbiome Partnership Summit, held at the Académie Nationale de Médecine in Paris and accessible online worldwide.

This hybrid summit brings together leading researchers, policymakers, and institutional stakeholders to discuss how microbiome science can be integrated into global health, food, climate, and environmental strategies. The kickoff event will:

  • Unveil the WMP’s structure and strategic roadmap, advancing a One Health framework
  • Host keynote addresses from global leaders including Rob Knight (UCSD), Joël Doré (INRAE), George Fu Gao (CAS), Lita Proctor (WMP), and Karine Clément (Sorbonne)
  • Feature Marine Microbiome Forum members Alice Ortmann (DFO) and Stéphane Pesant (EMBL-SBI) among the speakers
  • Launch working groups to define shared priorities across science, innovation, and policy

This summit sets the stage for a new global agenda where microbiome knowledge informs real-world action for planetary health. View here
